Lauro Martinez
January 14, 1942 - November 10, 2017
On Friday, November 10, 2017 at 8:23 PM, God visited our home and called his son Lauro Martinez to his side. He suffered a short, but painful battle against Pancreatic Cancer. Lauro was born on January 14, 1942 in Salaices Chihuahua to Maria Bernal and Jesus Martinez. He met his wife, Marina, forty seven years ago in Los Angeles CA. They raised their five children in South Gate, CA before moving to Norwalk, CA. Lauro was a man of strong character, yet very humble. He made a living as an automobile painter until retirement. Two things that were very important to him were his faith and his family. He enjoyed watching sports, especially boxing matches and fishing. He made an impression on everyone he met, He made friends everywhere he went. Lauro is survived by his wife Marina, his three sons, Luis, Gustavo and Jesus; two daughters, Lupe and Yvette; two daughters-in-law, Rachel and Veronica; five grandchildren, Gustavo, Andrew, Steven, Jasmine and Robert; two brothers, Pedro and Cesar, three sisters, Antonia, Teresa and Rosa; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lauro was an involved member of St. John of God Catholic Church. In his honor, a mass will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 2:00 PM at St. John of God Catholic Church located at 13819 S. Pioneer Blvd., Norwalk CA 90650. He will be greatly missed. " My eyes fill with tears, And I could hardly see, This cancer is stealing our father away. His light inside him fades a little more With each passing day. I wish by some miracle His cancer would just disappear And we could have our father back and there would be no more fear"
